2010 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup

The U-17 World Cup Women 2010 was the second playout of this competition for soccer players under 17 years old (as of 1 January 1993) and took place from 5 to 25 September 2010 in Trinidad and Tobago instead. Trinidad and Tobago were linked to the men's U -17 World Cup 2001 for the second time a FIFA tournament. 16 teams came first in a group stage into four groups and then in the knockout system against each other. Defending champion is the team from North Korea.

According to its Executive Committee in Sydney ( Australia) gave FIFA announced that Trinidad and Tobago will host the FIFA U -17 World Championships in 2010.

Venues

The World Cup matches took place in five locations. Four of the venues were located on the island of Trinidad and Tobago on the island. The five stages were already the scene of the U -17 World Cup for Juniors 2001. Apart from the stadium in the capital, Port-of -Spain, the stadiums were built in 2001.

  • The Hasely Crawford Stadium was named the first gold medalist from Trinidad and Tobago at the Olympic Summer Games after Hasely Crawford.
  • Named Larry Gomes Stadium is the cricketer Larry Gomes.
  • The Ato Boldon Stadium was named after athlete Ato Boldon, the 1997 world champion in the 200 -meter run.
  • The Manny Ramjohn Stadium was named after the long-distance runner Manny Ramjohn, who won a gold medal at the Central American and Caribbean Games in 1946.
  • The Dwight Yorke Stadium was named after the 72 - times national player Dwight Yorke.

Qualification

The qualifiers in Asia has been played at the U-16 Asia Cup in Bangkok ( Thailand) from 5 to 14 November 2009. Tournament winner was South Korea with a 4-0 final victory over North Korea. The third World Cup starting place Japan secured by a 6-2 victory over Australia. China surprisingly different from in the preliminary round.

The three places in the UEFA awarded at the U- 17 European Women in June 2010 in Nyon, Switzerland. The two finalists Spain and Ireland as well as Germany, the Netherlands defeated in the 3rd place match 3-0, qualify for the World Cup.

From North America, in addition to host Trinidad and Tobago, the two finalists Canada and Mexico have qualified for the World Cup. As the CONCACAF qualifying tournament served U-17 Championship, which was held from 9 to March 20, 2010 in San José (Costa Rica) in a final tournament with eight teams. The U.S. has failed in the semi-finals on penalties sensational to Canada after they had completed the first round excelling with 32:0 gates. This is the first time in the history of women's football World Cup is not represented in the final tournament of an American team.

The South American participants were determined at the U-17 South American Championship soccer women in Brazil in January / February 2010. Tournament winners Brazil was by a 7-0 final victory over Chile. The third World Cup starting place Venezuela secured a 1-0 victory over Paraguay.

The three representatives of the African Confederation were determined in April and May 2010. In several knockout rounds, Nigeria, Ghana and South Africa were able to prevail and qualify for the World Cup.

The representative of the oceanic association was determined at the OFC U- 17 Women's Championship, which was held from 8 to 16 April 2010 in Auckland ( New Zealand). The hosts won the tournament and thus qualified for the final tournament.

Trinidad and Tobago qualified automatically as hosts.
