2011 AFC Asian Cup qualification

This article addresses the qualification for the Asian Cup 2011 in Qatar.

Mode

For the Asian Cup 2011 in Qatar, the Asian Football Confederation ( AFC) has introduced a new qualifying format. For the AFC Asian Cup 2011 hosts Qatar and the top three of the AFC Asian Cup 2007, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and South Korea are directly qualified.

In addition, India and North Korea qualified as the winner of the AFC Challenge Cup in 2008 and 2010 for the Asia Cup.

The remaining ten participants will be determined by the normal qualification in which the teams in positions 4-22, the ranking of the AFC, and the winner of the game, the seats 23 and 24, were dissolved in 5 groups of 4 teams each. The top two in each group qualify for the Asian Cup 2011 in Qatar.

Ranking

On 6 December 2007, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC ), the following ranking for the qualification for the Asian Cup 2011 announced:

Prequalification

Lebanon and the Maldives played as 23 or 24, the ranking prequalification, which won the Lebanon after two wins with a total of 6-1 gates.

Main qualification

For the main qualification, the crews of the courts of 4 - 22 as well as the winner of the pre-qualification in 5 groups drafted to 4 teams. The main qualification was played out between January 2009 and March 2010.

The draw for the main qualification took place on 3 July 2008, it was pulled out following Lostöpfen:

  • Lostopf 1: Japan, Australia, Iran, Uzbekistan and Vietnam
  • Lostopf 2: China, Thailand, Indonesia, United Arab Emirates and Bahrain
  • Lostopf 3: Oman, Malaysia, Jordan, Syria and Hong Kong
  • Lostopf 4: Yemen, Kuwait, Singapore, India and Lebanon
