The ninth South Asian Football Championship, officially South Asian Football Federation Cup 2011, held from 2 to 11 December in India instead. Eight teams from the South Asian region played for the title of South Asia Master.

Venue

India, which had already won five titles, was the second time after soccer South Asia Championship 1999 hosted the South Asia Championships. All matches were played at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi.

Groups

The eight participating teams were divided into two groups of four teams. In the group stage the teams in the league system each played once against each other. The group winners and the runner-up reached the semi-finals, the winners of the semi-finals wore the finale. A game for third place did not take place.

Final

Also, the final match was held in New Delhi in Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. While India has 7 out of 8 finals of the South Asian Championships here, it was for Afghanistan, the first finals ever at a soccer tournament. This was hailed as a sensation in the country. The clash in the group stage went out with a 1-1 draw in the final was won by hosts India.
