2012 Major League Baseball season
The MLB 2012 season, the 111th season of Major League Baseball, was opened on 28 March 2012 and ended with the fourth win in the fourth game of the World Series 2012 San Francisco Giants over the Detroit Tigers on 28 October 2012.
During the regular season, 30 teams fight each in 162 games for a place in the play-offs. The World Series 2012 will begin on October 24, 2012 and ends on 1 November 2012 at the latest. Defending champions are the St. Louis Cardinals, the World Series in 2011 could decide for themselves.

Participating teams

On 30 September, the Texas Rangers, the Baltimore Orioles and the New York Yankees secured the participation in the post-season.
