Background

After the Malaysian Grand Prix Sebastian Vettel led the drivers' standings with nine points in front of Kimi Räikkönen and 14 points ahead of Mark Webber. Red Bull -Renault resulted in the constructors' championship with 26 points, ahead of Lotus -Renault and Ferrari.
