2013 Major League Baseball season
The MLB season, 2013, the 112th season of Major League Baseball, was opened on March 31, 2013 with the opening match between the Houston Astros and the Texas Rangers, which won the Astros 8-2. The season ends on 29 September 2013.
During the regular season, 30 teams fight each in 162 games for a place in the play-offs. The start of the 2013 World Series will be the end of October. Defending champions are the San Francisco Giants, the World Series in 2012 could decide for themselves.
After the Houston Astros have changed from the National League to the American League, play new in each division five teams. This now each team has 142 Inner League and 20 Inter League games (previously 15-18 depending on the team).
The MLB All- Star Game 2013 will take place on July 16, 2013 at Citi Field in Queens, New York City. The winning league has home advantage in the World Series.

Participating teams
In the 2013 season, the Houston Astros are replaced by the National League Central to the American League West, where they meet on their direct competitors, the Texas Rangers. Thus, both leagues have 15 new teams.

Mode and participants
Instead of the top four, as in previous years, played this year, the top five teams to the respective winners of the American League and National League, which then determine in the World Series the 2013 World Series winners.
