2014 AFC Challenge Cup qualification

For the fifth edition of the AFC Challenge Cup to 20 associations have been reported. To determine the eight finalists was a qualification necessary. The qualification is also part of qualifying for the Asian Cup in 2015, qualified for the winner of the Challenge Cup.

Mode

For the first time the host is automatically qualified for the finals. On 20 November 2012, the Maldives were determined as the host. The other entered teams had to compete in the qualification. For the first time took part in the Northern Mariana Islands as an associate AFC member. Of the eligible countries Bhutan and East Timor did not participate. North Korea, winner of the AFC Challenge Cup 2012 was excluded, but qualified for the Asia Cup 2015. Based on the results of the AFC Challenge Cup 2012 teams were drawn into five groups of four teams. The group games were played in a simple league system, each in a city. The group winners and the two best runners-up qualify for the finals in the Maldives.

  • Group B: Kyrgyzstan, Macau, Pakistan, Tajikistan
  • Group C: Afghanistan, Laos, Mongolia, Sri Lanka
  • Group D: Bangladesh, Nepal, Northern Mariana, Palestine
  • Group E: Brunei, Cambodia, Philippines, Turkmenistan

Determination of the best runners

Due to the withdrawal of Brunei in Group E runners-up of this group in contrast to the other runners had to complete only two games. In order to compare the teams, so only two games are considered with the other runners, namely against the first and against the third-ranked of each group. The games against the fourth-placed will not be counted. Accordingly, the following table results:
