( 22260 ) Ur is an asteroid of the middle main belt, which on 19 October 1979 by the Czech astronomer Antonín Mrkos on Kleť Observatory (IAU code 046) was discovered in Český Krumlov.

The asteroid is named after the Mesopotamian city of Ur. The appointment was made on a proposal from the Czech astronomer Jana Ticha by the International Astronomical Union ( IAU) on May 9, 2001. Character encoding of the provisional designation of the asteroid 1979 UR, which stands for the date of discovery, is identical to the wording in this case. In Ur is the ziggurat of the moon god Nanna. For this reason, already a sulcus ( furrow or groove ) in 1985 named on Jupiter's moon Ganymede to Ur: Ur sulcus.
