( 28766 ) Monge is one of the main asteroid belt, which from the Italian-American astronomer Paul G. Comba at Prescott Observatory (IAU code 684) was discovered in Arizona on April 29, 2000.

The asteroid is named after the French mathematician, physicist and chemist Gaspard Monge (1746-1818), who had made ​​an outstanding contribution to the performing significantly (descriptive ) geometry.
