(29 ) Amphitrite is an asteroid of the main asteroid belt, which was discovered on March 1, 1854 by Albert Marth. It was named after the Greco-Roman sea goddess Amphitrite, daughter of Nereus and Doris, wife of Poseidon.

Amphitrite has an estimated diameter of a little over 200 kilometers, making it one of the largest asteroids of the main belt. 5 hours and 24 minutes to rotate about its own axis.

While the opposition Amphitrite reached an apparent magnitude of 8.8 m and is one of the brightest asteroids in the night sky. To track them down, however, you need a telescope or a bright prism binoculars.
