Alexander's and area

  • January-August: The army of Alexander the Great besieged Tyre and takes the city after half a year, the residents are killed (2000 inhabitants to be crucified ) or sold into slavery (see: Siege of Tyre (332 BC) ). The other Phoenician cities arising largely without a fight.
  • Peace offering of the Persian king Darius III. to Alexander, which it offers the dominion west of the Euphrates; Alexander refuses.
  • Alexander the Great conquered Gaza after a three month siege. Also the rest of Palestine comes under Macedonian rule.
  • Struggle taking lots of Egypt by Alexander the Great.
  • The local rulers of Cyprus, previously subject to the Persians, run over to Alexander the Great.
  • Survey of the Thracians against Macedonian rule. Antipater, who is regent during Alexander's campaign in the European part of Alexander's empire, strikes down the rebellion.
  • During the Thracian uprising Sparta, the only Greek state, who had not joined the Corinthian collar begins a rebellion against the Macedonians. The Spartan king Agis III. manages to occupy Crete and Elis, and to win most of the cities of Arcadia and Achaia as an alliance partner.
