( 3362 ) Khufu is an asteroid from Aten type. This refers to a group of asteroids whose orbits extend partially within the Earth's orbit and cross these from the inside. Khufu approaches the Sun to about 0.5 AU and even crosses hence the orbit of Venus.

Khufu was discovered on August 30, 1984 by R. Scott Dunbar and Maria A. Barucci from Palomar observatory.

The name of the asteroid is derived from the Egyptian Pharaoh Khufu ( better known by the Greek name Cheops).
