33rd Waffen Cavalry Division of the SS (3rd Hungarian)

The 33rd Waffen Cavalry Division of the SS ( Hungarian No. 3) was established in November 1944 from dispersed Hungarian cavalry units unit of the Waffen-SS. As a division, however, it existed in reality only on paper. Even before the planned installation was implemented, the previously collected for this purpose units, due to the worsening situation used at the front, for the defense of Budapest were. There, these, as well as large parts of the 3rd Hungarian Army were together with the two SS cavalry divisions Florian Geyer and Maria Theresa, surrounded by the Red Army and destroyed in early February during the Battle of Budapest.
