( 37452 ) Spirit is an asteroid of the outer main belt, which was discovered on 24 September 1960 by the Dutch astronomer Cornelis Johannes van Houten couple and Ingrid van Houten - Groeneveld. The discovery came as part of the Palomar - Leiden Survey, which recorded by Tom Gehrels with the 120 - inch Oschin Schmidt telescope at Palomar Observatory field plates at Leiden University were screened.

( 37452 ) Spirit was named on 28 September 2004 by the U.S. space probe Spirit landed on January 4, 2004 at the Mars crater Gusev. The proposal for naming the asteroid ( 37452 ) and Spirit ( 39382 ) Opportunity came in 2002 by Ingrid van Houten - Groeneveld, after about the sun orbits templates reliable data and the asteroid had received a number.
