3rd Taktra Rinpoche

Tagdrag Ngawang Sungrab Thutob (* 1874 in Toelung Dechen, † 1952) was a monk of the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism and from February 1941 to November 1950 Regent of Tibet. He was the third Tagdrag Rinpoche ( Trülku ) of Tagdrag Monastery. He was one of the teachers of the 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatsho. As regent he followed at the beginning of 1941, the fifth reting Rinpoche, Jampel Yeshe Gyeltshen, with whom he later came into conflict ( the so-called reting incident ).
