4- hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase (HPPD ) is a non-heme -Fe ( II) oxygenase which catalyzes the second step, Tyrosinemia, the conversion of 4- hydroxyphenylpyruvic acid and carbon dioxide in homogentisate. It can be found in almost every aerobic form of life.

Biological Function

HPPD is an intermediate step of Tyrosinabbaus to acetoacetic acid and fumaric acid.

Plants need to HPPD plastoquinones and tocopherol to produce.
