400kV Thames Crossing

The 380 kV overhead line crossing the Thames is a 1965 built overhead line crossing of 380 kV at West Thurrock in Great Britain over the River Thames. She is moved to the highest pylons in the UK, which tower over 190 meters in height even the BT Tower in London. The span of the line over the River Thames is 1372 meters, the passage height 76 meters.

This line was not the first overhead line crossing of the River Thames close to its mouth. Between 1927 and 1932 was between Dagenham and Crossness a 132- kV transmission line, which was suspended from two per 148.4 meter high masts erected. This line was dismantled in 1987.
