(425 ) Cornelia is an asteroid of the main belt, which was discovered on 28 December 1896 by the French astronomer Auguste Charlois in Nice.

The name of the asteroid is reminiscent of Cornelia Africana, the daughter of the Roman general and consul Scipio Africanus.
