(46 ) Hestia is an asteroid of the main asteroid belt, which was discovered on August 16, 1857 by Norman Robert Pogson.
It was named after Hestia a goddess of Greek mythology, which corresponds to the Roman goddess Vesta.
Hestia has a diameter of 124 km. It has a dark surface with an albedo of 0.05, consisting of silicates and carbon. In around 21 hours, it rotates about its own axis.
After this asteroid Hestia gap is named.
