4AD

4AD is an independent record label for indie and alternative music in the UK.

History

4AD was founded in 1979 by Ivo Watts - Russell and Peter Kent, with the support of Beggars Banquet Records under the name Axis Records, but changed a short time later his name to 4AD as Axis was already used by another company in the music industry. 1980 Peter Kent left 4AD, to form his own record company situation Two Records.
