( 5115 ) Frimout is an asteroid of the main belt of the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the La Silla Observatory ( observatory code 809 ) of the European Southern Observatory in Chile was discovered on 13 February 1988.

The asteroid is named after the Belgian astronaut Dirk Frimout ( b. 1941 ) named the the Space Shuttle Atlantis flew on 24 March 1992 in the framework of the Space Shuttle mission STS -45 was the first Belgian in space.
