( 5204 ) Heraclitus is one of the main asteroid belt, which by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the La Silla Observatory ( observatory code 809 ) of the European Southern Observatory in Chile was discovered on 11 February 1988.

The asteroid is ( 520-460 BC), named after the pre-Socratic philosopher Heraclitus of Ephesus, who was of a different from all previous conceptions ways insight into the world order and the later the popular shorthand Panta Rhei ( " everything flows " ) was attributed.
