( 5244 ) Amphilochus is an asteroid from the group of Jupiter Trojans. Thus asteroids are called, which run on the path of Jupiter on the Lagrange points around the sun. ( 5244 ) Amphilochus was discovered on September 29, 1973 by Team CJ van Houten, I. van Houten - Groeneveld and T. Gehrels at Palomar Observatory. He is associated with the Lagrangian point L4.

The asteroid is named after the mythological figure of Amphilochus, king of Argos and seers of the Greeks in the Trojan War.
