( 5335 ) Damocles is an asteroid from the group of Damocloiden, which was discovered on February 18, 1991 by Robert H. McNaught at the Siding Spring Observatory. The asteroid was named after Damocles.

Properties of the orbit

The orbit of the asteroid is highly elliptical with an eccentricity of 0.866. The perihelion is 1.582 with AE in the inner solar system, the aphelion lies with 22.094 AU beyond the orbit of Uranus. For one revolution around the Sun, the asteroid requires 40.73 years. Furthermore, the orbital plane is inclined at 61.95 degrees to the ecliptic.
