55733 Lepsius is an asteroid of the main belt, which was discovered on 27 November 1986 by the German astronomer frankness Börngen at the Thuringian State Observatory Tautenburg.

It was named in honor of the German Egyptologist, linguist and librarian Karl Richard Lepsius, the planner of the Egyptian Museum in Berlin and founder of the Department of Egyptology in Germany.
