65 Broadway

65 Broadway and Standards and Poor Building ( formerly American Express Building ) is a 21 - storey skyscraper in the financial district of Manhattan in New York City. It was built in 1914-1917 according to the plans of James L. Aspinwall of Renwick, Aspinwall & Tucker. The Neoclassical building is located in the immediate vicinity of Trinity Church and is bordered to the south of the Adams Express Building on the north by the Empire Building.

History

The building was given as many skyscrapers in the district of banks and insurance funds, such as the American Surety Building or 1 Wall Street Irving Trust. By 1975, 65 Broadway was the headquarters of the financial services provider American Express. In 1995 the building of the Landmarks Preservation Commission was declared a National Monument.
