( 6859 ) Datemasamune is an asteroid of the main belt, which was discovered at the Ayashi Station of the Sendai Astronomical Observatory in Sendai on 13 February 1991 by Japanese astronomers Masahiro Koishikawa.

It was named after the Japanese feudal lord Date Masamune and follower of Tokugawa Ieyasu, who built the castle of Sendai in 1601.
