( 7629 ) Foros is an asteroid of the inner main belt, which was discovered by Soviet astronomer Nikolai Chernykh on 19 August 1977 at the Crimean Observatory in Nautschnyj (IAU code 095). An unconfirmed sighting of the asteroids had already given on 11 October 1948 with the provisional designation 1948 TB2 at the remote location Crimean Observatory in Simejis.

The asteroid belongs to Nysa group, one named after (44 ) Nysa group of asteroids (also called Hertha family, according to (135 ) Hertha). The timeless ( nichtoskulierenden ) orbital elements of ( 7629 ) Foros are almost identical with those of four smaller when compared to 14.2 emanating from the absolute brightness of 16.6, 17.2, 18.2 and 17.8, asteroids: (137505) 1999 VZ21, ( 148 477 ) in 2001 FS99, ( 311243 ) 2005 CT68 and ( 339 734 ) 2005 SR44.

( 7629 ) was named after Foros Foros on 4 May 1999, a health resort on the southern coast of the Crimean peninsula. In 1979 a Martian crater was named after Foros: Foros Mars crater.
