8 Bold Souls

8 Bold Souls is an American jazz octet of Modern Creative, or avant-garde jazz.

The octet 8 Bold Souls was in the 1980s, founded by saxophonist Edward Wilkerson, a former member of the Ethnic Heritage Ensemble, with other musicians of the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians ( AACM ). In the arrangements of the played music, primarily the lower elevations of the brass section are preferred; Main soloist is the tuba player Aaron Dodd and since 1997 Gerald Powell. In the game of octets change heavily orchestrated and structured games from very freely improvised passages. The style of 8 Bold Souls is strongly reminiscent of the bands of Henry Threadgill.
