( 8676 ) Lully is an asteroid of the main belt, which was discovered on February 2, 1992 by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the La Silla Observatory ( observatory code 809 ) of the European Southern Observatory in Chile.

The asteroid is named after the Italian composer and ballet dancer Jean -Baptiste Lully (1632-1687) named, not only further led the French style with his new orchestral discipline and decisively shaped, but with it enormous influence on the European musical landscape of the late 17th century exercised.
