( 9491 ) Thooft is an asteroid of the main belt, which on 25 March 1971 by the Dutch astronomer Cornelis Johannes van Houten, Ingrid van Houten - Groeneveld and Tom Gehrels at Palomar Observatory ( observatory code 675) was discovered in California.

The asteroid is named after the Dutch physicist Gerardus ' t Hooft (* 1946) named, who was together with his colleague Martinus JG Veltman awarded in 1999 the Nobel Prize for Physics.

Furthermore, 't Hooft a Constitution of "his" asteroid humorous as written.
