(9817) Thersander

( 9817 ) Thersander is an asteroid from the group of Jupiter Trojans. Thus asteroids are called, which run on the path of Jupiter on the Lagrange points around the sun.

( 9817 ) Thersander was discovered by the Dutch astronomer Cornelis Johannes van Houten, Ingrid van Houten - Groeneveld and Tom Gehrels at Palomar Observatory (IAU code 675) on 24 September 1960. He is associated with the Lagrangian point L4.

The asteroid is named after the mythological Greek hero Thersander.

In the Trojan War he moved to the side of the Greeks in the fight.
