A Camp

A Camp is the solo project of Nina Persson, lead singer of the Swedish pop group The Cardigans.

Band History

The idea for the project A Camp was created in 1997, when Nina Persson Frisk sat with the Swedish musician Niclas at a bar. In a lively discussion, noted that two overlaps firmly in their record collections. Then she decided to try and write some songs.

But only three years later, after completion of the work on the fourth album by the Cardigans, Gran Turismo, Nina Persson took these songs in the studio. With Mark Linkous this was the album A Camp under the label of Stockholm.

While Gran Turismo was musically darker, reflects the album A Camp Persson preference to combine ironic lyrics with happy colored music. The album Persson decided that the songs largely einzuspielen in country style.

Two singles were released from the album: I Can Buy You and Song For The Leftovers. The first of the two reached the UK charts in September 2001.

This album initially was the only publication of A Camp. Persson began with their colleagues from the Cardigans on the fifth album of the band, Long Gone Before Daylight to work, which appeared in the summer of 2003. It is the music clearly inspired by Persson's solo project.

On May 5, 2007 it was announced on the official website of the Cardigans that Persson has begun on a second A Camp album to write. This eventually was given the title Colonia and was released in January 2009.
