Nightmare on Elm Street 5 - The Dream Child is a horror film from the year 1989 and the fifth part of the Nightmare series.

Action

The plot is directly linked to Part 4. Alice Johnson leads a reasonably orderly life again and is dating Dan Jordan. When she becomes pregnant, Freddy Krueger tries to return about the dreams of the unborn child.

In her dream world Alice applies not only to Krueger, but also to her son Jacob in childhood. They confronted that Jacob Krueger wants to win for himself and manipulating him for his own purposes with the problem. Jacob is caught in the middle and do not know whom to believe: his mother or the man with the " strange hand ".

Criticism

Awards

Whit Hertford won in 1990 the Young Artist Award. Stephen Hopkins won the 1990 Critics' Prize of the Festival Internacional de Cinema do Porto and was nominated for another award this festival.

Interface versions

The film had to be cut in the U.S. before its release to some violence tips to get by the MPAA R- rating. This R -rated version received in Germany by the FSK one for ages 18 years and has been indexed. The German video release was compared to the R -rated version again slightly shortened and also released over 18 years. A shortened to around seven minutes to version received FSK-16 release.

2007, the R -rated version was deleted from the index, and released after a re-examination of the FSK ab 16 years.

The unrated version has so far only once released in the U.S. on laserdisc and in Germany as a bootleg.
