A. J. McNamara

AJ McNamara ( b. 1936 in New Orleans, Louisiana) is an American lawyer and politician.

McNamara studied at Louisiana State University in 1959 and received his Bachelor of Science (BS ). Subsequently, he served from 1959 to 1962 in the United States Navy. At the Law School of Loyola University New Orleans in 1968, he received his Juris Doctor. McNamara now practiced from 1968 to 1982 as an attorney in New Orleans. From 1976 to 1980 he was a member of the House of Representatives from Louisiana.

On 5 May 1982, he was nominated by President Ronald Reagan as Judge at United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, to reoccupy the vacant seat of Edward James Boyle Sr.. The Senate confirmed him on June 18. On June 21 In 1982 his inauguration. McNamara held from 1999 to 2001, the Office of the Chief Justice. On 9 June 2001, he participated in the "senior status".
