A. S. Hitchcock

Albert Spear Hitchcock (* 1865 in Owasso, Michigan, † 1935 Atlantic Ocean) was an American botanist. Its official botanical author abbreviation is " Hitchc. ".

Life

Albert Spear Hitchcock studied at Iowa State College, where he obtained three degrees. He then worked for ten years as a professor of botany at Kansas State College. From 1901 to 1935 he was then Agrostologe ( grasses watchers ) of the United States National Herbarium. On the way back from a research trip to various European herbaria he died in 1935 on the Atlantic Ocean aboard the The City of Norfolk.
