Autoceļš A2 is an entity belonging to Latvian State Roads " State Street " ( lett valsts galvenie Autoceļi ). It runs from Riga on Ape and then on to the border with Estonia and is part of European route 77

Current Situation

Currently, the section from Riga to Senite with a total of four lanes and two lanes has been removed. The remaining portion is currently equipped only as a road with one lane in each direction and a roadway.

The A2 is one of the first streets of Latvia, which was built with four lanes. However, it also is one of the slowest roads in the country, and in particular the section from Riga to Sigulda. Where the speed limit is 90 km / h

Currently, a modernization of the section of the highway junction with the A1 to motorway junction is made with the A3 until 2015., The motorway will be expanded so that the speed limit on this stretch of 110 km / h can be lifted.
