The A55 ( Autoroute du Littoral ) is a toll-free highway in the French department of Bouches -du -Rhône, in Provence. It connects Marseille Martigues and then use the N568 with Arles, from where you can reach via the A54 to Nimes.
History
In 1972, the A55 was built as a bypass road from Martigues, 1975 it was extended to the A7. In 1989, the A55 was completed to Marseille.
Future
The expansion of the N568 to Arles to the motorway is planned.
