The A949 road is an A road in the Scottish council area of Highland.

Course

The road begins in the center of Dornoch in the central square of the village. On the western edge the B9168 turns off, which leads north to the A9. The A949 passes in a westerly direction, and after about 1.5 km at the small settlement Camore. After a total of three miles down the A949 opens into the A9 ( Polmont - Scrabster ) and is run over a distance of two kilometers along with this in a southwesterly direction. It branches off to the west and passes through sparsely populated regions of the Highlands along the north shore of the Dornoch Firth. The A949 crosses the small town Spinningdale and finally ends after a total length of 20.5 km and its junction with the A836 ( Tain- Thurso ) in the village of Bonar Bridge.
