Abbas Fahdel

Abbas Fahdel (Arabic عباس فاضل; * Babylon, Iraq ) is an Iraqi- French film director, screenwriter and film critic. At the age of eighteen he went to France and studied and graduated in film studies at the Sorbonne. After several years working as a journalist and after he made ​​several short films ( Things in the shadow, Weegee 's World, Sunday at a suburban café), he returned to his country in January 2002. There he filmed the documentary Retour à Babylone and after the American invasion documentation Nous les Irakiens ( 2004). Dawn of the World ( 2008) is his first feature film, and in 2009 at the Festival International du Film Asiatique de Versoul ( Best Screenplay ), the Rabat International Film Festival ( Grand Jury Prize ) and the Gulf Film Festival ( Best Film ) award.
