Abductor digiti minimi muscle of hand

The abductor digiti minimi (Latin for " little finger spreader " ) is one of the skeletal muscles of the little finger ( " hypothenar "). He lies there quite laterally adjacent to the flexor digiti minimi brevis.

The little finger spreader is on the medial (inner) side at the base of the first phalanx of the little finger and the dorsal aponeurosis ( firm connective tissue at the back of the finger ).

The abductor digiti minimi spread ( abduct ) the little finger of ( the remaining fingers ) of the hand. In addition, he performs due to his approach to the aponeurosis dorsalis to a flexion of the metacarpophalangeal joint and an extension in the middle and distal interphalangeal joint of the little finger ( Digitus minimus ).
