Abdul Bari Firangi Mahali

Maulana Abdul Bari ( * 1878, † 1926) was an Indian Islamic political leader, scholar and Sufi. He was one of the most famous scholars of Firangi Mahal in Lucknow ( Lucknow ), Uttar Pradesh, India.

Bari was active in the Caliphate movement as well as in religious organizations like the Jamiat -e- ulema -e- Hind, whose founding president he was.

In his opposition to Western education, he opened in 1923 with his family, the school Madrasa Nizamia in Lucknow.

He was a member of the Gründungskommitees Jamia Millia Islamia, Aligarh in United Provinces, India, (1920).

He preached the unity of Hindus and Muslims and was a friend of Mahatma Gandhi.

He is the author of over a hundred books.
