Abdul-Karim Mousavi Ardebili

Seyyed Abdulkarim Mousavi Ardebili (Persian عبدالکریم موسوی اردبیلی, born January 28, 1926 in Ardabil ) is a Shiite cleric Grand Ayatollah with the title and politician of Iran.

Ardebili belonged to the inner circle of the Revolutionary Council Ruhollah Khomeini during his exile to France. He was also a founding member of the Islamic Republican Party and took over the management of the Foundation for the weak, the renamed and wealthy Pahlavi Foundation.

Khomeini appointed after the death of Mohammad Beheshti, on 28 June 1981 Ayatollah Ardebili to the influential position of chairman of the Judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran until it was replaced in 1989 at this post from the new Supreme Leader, Sayyid Ali Mohammad Yazdi Chamene'i by.
