Abdurrahim Kuzu

Abdurrahim Kuzu ( born September 20, 1955 in İzmit, Kocaeli, Turkey) is a former American professional wrestler. He was Vice World Champion 1979 in Greco-Roman style in featherweight.

Career

Abdurrahim Kuzu came as a teenager in Turkey to wrestle. In the 1970s, he emigrated to the United States and was in Lincoln ( Nebraska), a resident. There he joined the Nebraska WC ( wrestling club). He was active exclusively in the Greco- Roman style.

In 1978 Abdurrahim Kuzu first American featherweight champion, yet the U.S. championship followed in 1980, 1982 and 1984. In 1978, he represented the United States for the first time at a World Cup. In Mexico City, he came here with wins over Doug Yeats, Canada and Harald Hervig, Norway and defeats Thomas Passarelli, Federal Republic of Germany and Kazimierz Lipień from Poland on the 7th Place.

He was also in the World Cup 1979 in San Diego at the start and there celebrated its biggest sporting success. He was charged with four wins and one defeat Vice World Featherweight Champion. The most notable was his victory over the multiple -Soviet world champion Farhat Mustafin. In the fight for the world title he lost in San Diego to Hungary Istvan Toth.

At the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow, he was unable to attend because the United States boycotted the games for political reasons and this boycott fought out on the back of his athletes. But he was again at the World Championships 1981 in Oslo at the start. He came there though only to 6th place, but celebrated but notable victories over ion Păun from Romania and Ryszard Świerad from Poland.

After a moderate 10th place at the World Championship 1983 in Kiev, he took in 1984 in Los Angeles still in the Olympic Games in part. He defeated in Los Angeles et al the later silver medalist Kent Olle Johansson from Sweden and Bernd Gabriel from Germany, but suffered somewhat surprising defeats of Doug Yeats from Canada and Hugo Dietsche from Switzerland. This defeats threw him back to 4th place, which he narrowly missed an Olympic medal.

After these Olympics, he ended his international career Ringer. He went to Germany and was civil employee of the U.S. Air Force in the Palatinate. At the same time he wrestled for many years for the VfK Schiffer city in the German Bundesliga Ringer. In 1986 and 1987 he was doing with the VfK Schifferstadt German Vice - team champion.

Then he went back to his original homeland Turkey and worked there as a wrestler trainer. Now (2009) but he moved back to Midland ( Texas), where she works as a physical education teacher and coach Ringer.
