ABEC scale

ABEC stands for Annular Bearing Engineering Committee, a Technical Committee of the American Bearing Manufacturers Association ( ABMA ), the Association of American manufacturer of rolling bearings. From the so-called ABEC ABEC scale ( ANSI / ABMA Standard 20 ) is designed to be set in the tolerance classes for the production of ball bearings. The corresponding ISO standard is ISO 492

The tolerance classes of the ABEC scale are identified by names ABEC 1, ABEC 3, etc.. A higher number corresponds to lower manufacturing tolerances of the bearing.

In the general public, the ABEC scale is best known as the ostensible quality feature for the ball bearings of wave boards, inline skates, skateboards, kick boards, stunt scooters and longboards.
