Abja Parish
Abja is a rural municipality in Estonia Viljandi County with an area of 290.21 km ². It has 2 514 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2010).
Abja located in the south of the county and borders on Latvia. It was first mentioned in documents in 1504. In addition to the main town Abja- Paluoja ( German: Abia - Palloja ), which was incorporated as a community-based city in 1998, the country parish includes the villages Abja- Vanamõisa, Abjaku, Atika, Kamara, Laatre, Lasari, Penuja, Polde, Raamatu, Räägu, Saate, Zarya, Umbsoo, Veelikse and Veskimäe.
Abja maintains a community partnership with Nummi - Pusula in Finland.
