Locust lizard ( Ablepharus kitaibelii )

The snake eyes skinks ( Ablepharus ) are a genus within the family of skinks. It includes the smallest skinks Europe. Snake eyes skinks live exclusively on the ground between low grass, dirt with sparse vegetation or in the leaf litter layer lights deciduous forests. They lay eggs that develop in the soil.

Features

Snake eyes skinks have a long and lean body with poorly developed limbs, but still carry the complete number of fingers and toes. Arms and legs are relatively far apart and are no longer used when Snake. The name derives from the overgrown to a transparent capsule eyelids, reminiscent of a snake eye.
