Ablis

Ablis is a commune in the region Ile- de -France in the Yvelines department in the arrondissement of Rambouillet in the canton of Saint -Arnoult -en- Yvelines.

General

The village is located about 30 kilometers south of Paris. The municipality covers approximately 26 square kilometers, which are mostly used for agriculture (80 percent), at 155 meters above sea level. It has 3260 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011). In Ablis the Autoroute A11 (L' Océane ), which leads to Nantes starts.

History

The Catholic Church of St - Pierre St -Paul goes on the 11th/12th. Century. She was a stop on the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela. The village itself is occupied in 1140 as Ableis, in 1250 as Abbayes 1516 as Ableys, in the 17th century as Ablys and in the 18th century as Ablais. He was gradually various monasteries.
