ABP Induction Systems

Bernd Bartelheimer, Paul Decker

ABP Induction Systems GmbH is a German industrial company and a leading manufacturer of induction powered equipment for the metal industry with a global field of activity. ABP is headquartered in Dortmund and it is entered in the commercial register. ABP Induction was detached in Nov. 2005 by Asea Brown Boveri and has since become an independent industrial company which is in a hundred year history.

In the induction furnaces, the energy required for melting or heating is directly induced in the workpiece, so that a much more efficient, faster and more accurate metering to heating at more convenient handling is achieved through the coil.

History

ASEA

1903, the company built its first induction furnace for foundry operations - at that time under the name Allmänna Svenska Elektriska Aktiebolaget ( ASEA ), with headquarters in Sweden.

Merger with BBC to ABB

1988 merged ASEA and the Swiss Brown, Boveri & Cie. ( BBC ) for Asea Brown Boveri (ABB). This strategic merger led ABB the world's number three in electrical engineering and was considered a milestone in the economic history because now in addition to the complex control, automation and information technology to services such as consulting, planning, plant systems engineering, installation, commissioning and training of operating personnel, a higher importance was placed.

ABP

On November 1, 2005, ABB sold its division to CM Systems Business Unit Foundry acquisition. The independent company ABP Induction Systems GmbH is headquartered in Dortmund, which is the headquarters for operations in the U.S., Sweden, Thailand, Brazil, Mexico, India and Russia at the same time was from the Business of ABB foundries and Umformwerke Dortmund.

ABP today

Through this economic development - in the context of bundling the know-how of ASEA, BBC and ABB at the former BBC site Dortmund, Dortmund Harbour - part of ABP Induction Systems GmbH a technology and market leader in the field " Induction melting and heating ."

Location

Headquarters ( Headquarter)

The company's headquarters is now located on the former site of the BBC, in the Port of Dortmund. This site is due to its proximity to industrial companies in the Ruhr area, as well as its diverse logistical possibilities ( connections to the German inland waterway network, direct connection to the motorway and rail network, several universities ) is advantageous.

Products

The core activity of ABP is the production of systems for melting, holding and heating of metals and metallic products. These systems consist of transformers, converters, throttle, control technology and furnace coil, and furnace body.

Melt

The facilities offered by ABP to melt, are powerful induction furnaces in which iron and non-ferrous metals and their alloys can be melted and superheated in a short time.

Keeping Warm

To keep warm ovens are offered, which induced output in relation to filling capacity is significantly lower than the melting units. So it is to hold molten metal by transferring economically and ecologically sensible at the desired temperature possible in stock in the melting unit. Holding furnaces are typically performed as furnaces with flanged cup or channel inductors.

The casting furnace is basically a holding furnace which is equipped with a filling level regulation by gas pressure, and a Abgusssiphon. The Abgusssiphon is equipped with a locking system which makes it possible to fill the molds manually or automatically in dependence on the degree of automation. At sufficiently high throughput relative to the volume it is possible to perform the casting furnace unheated.

Warmer

Heaters are used to fabricate metallic semi-finished products for applications in payment or hot stamping on heating without them in a liquid state to move. Heaters are often filled as furnaces with mechanical parts transport. Example: forging.

Power spectrum

In addition to the construction and sale of equipment, great value is placed on the service. For customer service includes a detailed concept development that is tailored to each customer. In addition, process simulations, investment and benefit assessments are carried out. It is also made sure that the projects are feasible for both sides and a smooth start-up takes place by order of application optimization and batch planning ( MeltShopManager ). Furthermore, customers are offered for staff training in order to hold them for the latest information and to become familiar with new equipment. The facilities offered by Gießereileitständen with process monitoring and control. In addition, the systems are equipped with energy management systems.

Additional equipment

By adding products such as slag excavators, production times are reduced, production processes accelerated and optimized. The Tiegelausdrückvorrichtung accelerates the crucible change. Crucible monitoring systems, electromechanical actuation plug for automatic casting machines, optimize production processes. In addition, hardware and software solutions for managing and monitoring the operation of melting, holding and heating systems are offered.
