Abraham P. Stephens

Abraham P. Stephens (* February 18, 1796 in New City, New York, † November 25, 1859 in Nyack, New York) was an American lawyer and politician. Between 1851 and 1853 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Abraham P. Stephens was born in the late 18th century in New City. He was justice of the peace. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party. In the congressional elections of 1850 for the 32nd Congress Stephens was in the seventh election district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of William Nelson on March 4, 1851. Stephens retired after the March 3, 1853 out of the Congress. He died on November 25, 1859 in Nyack and was then buried in the Oak Hill Cemetery.
